History

The name Kamaole means 'barren' in Hawaiian, a nod to the dry coastal conditions historically associated with this area.

Once a sparsely populated area, the Kihei region has transformed into a popular destination for tourism, offering a mix of natural beauty and modern amenities.

The beaches were historically part of an ahupua’a, a traditional Hawaiian land division running from the mountains to the sea.
